Assam health department revamped for better public service

Guwahati: The government of Assam has, in an effort to improve health services, separated state department of health and family welfare into two departments – the Department of Health and Family Welfare and the Department of Medical Education and Research.

“In the interest of public service, the Governor of Assam is pleased to reorganize the existing Department of Health and Family Welfare into two separate departments,” said a notification issued by the Administrative Reforms Department of Assam on Thursday. state, training, pensions and grievances.

Directorates/subjects under the administrative supervision of the Department of Health and Family Welfare include the Directorate of Health Services (DHS); directorate of health services (home help); direction of Ayush; National Health Mission; Food and Drug Safety Administration; Assam State AIDS Control Society (ASACS) and all nursing schools.

Similarly, the directorates/disciplines under the administrative supervision of the directorate of medical education and research include the directorate of medical education; all medical faculties and hospitals, dental faculties, nursing schools, pharmacy and paramedical institutes under the direction of medical education; public Ayurvedic and homeopathic colleges; Assam Cancer Care Foundation; Atal Amrit Abhijan Society (AAA)/Pradhan Mantrir Jan Arogya Yojana; Assam Employees Health Scheme; Assam Health System Strengthening Project Society; Srimanta Sankardeva University of Health Sciences (SSUHS) and any other institution related to medical education and research.

“All correspondence relating to the existing Department of Health and Family Welfare will henceforth be conducted on behalf of the new departments as assigned,” said the notification, which became effective immediately.
