Sam’s Club and DoorDash Partner to Provide Home Delivery of Qualifying Prescription Drugs.
The warehouse club retailer now delivers pharmaceuticals to members and non-members of more than 500 stores in 41 states, through the white-label distribution platform DoorDash Drive. Shipments do not include controlled substances or drugs that require refrigeration.
Home delivery of prescription drugs has become an increasingly popular service since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic in March. Kmart and Publix both offer the service in partnership with ScriptDrop. Rite Aid waived delivery charges for prescriptions, and Costco expanded its prescription delivery partnership with Instacart nationwide.
Additionally, CVS and UPS deliver Rx drugs by drone to the nation’s largest retirement community, located in Florida. Sam’s Club parent Walmart offers overnight prescription courier delivery, but is also testing drone delivery of some health and wellness items.
To schedule a prescription for delivery, customers can call their local participating Sam’s Club pharmacy and speak to a pharmacist. Sam’s Club is taking steps to make Rx delivery options available in its consumer app during the first half of 2021. Members can receive free delivery on their first two pharmacy orders through January 31, 2022. After this promotion used or expired, delivery will bear a flat charge of $ 7.99 for all customers.
